RESUMO

The production of peanut oil in the industrial sector necessitates the utilization of diverse raw materials to generate consistent batches with stable flavor profiles, thereby leading to an increased focus on understanding the correlation between raw materials and flavor characteristics. In this study, sensory evaluations, headspace solid-phase micro-extraction gas chromatography mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS), odor activity value (OAV) calculations, and correlation analysis were employed to investigate the flavors and main contributing amino acids of hot-pressed oils derived from different peanut varieties. The results confirmed that the levels of alcohols, aldehydes, and heterocyclic compounds in peanut oil varied among nine different peanut varieties under identical processing conditions. The OAVs of 25 key aroma compounds, such as methylthiol, 3-ethyl-2,5-dimethylpyrazine, and 2,3-glutarone, exceeded a value of 1. The sensory evaluations and flavor content analysis demonstrated that pyrazines significantly influenced the flavor profile of the peanut oil. The concentrations of 11 amino acids showed a strong correlation with the levels of pyrazines. Notably, phenylalanine, lysine, glutamic acid, arginine, and isoleucine demonstrated significant associations with both pyrazine and nut flavors. These findings will provide valuable insights for enhancing the sensory attributes of peanut oil and selecting optimal raw peanuts for its production.

RESUMO

Objective: To systematically evaluate and explore the factors influencing depressive symptoms in female breast cancer patients in China through meta-analysis. Methods: Relevant data were retrieved from cross-sectional studies or cohort studies on depressive symptoms of Chinese breast cancer within the following databases: PubMed, Embase, Cohrane Library, Web of 105 Science, Database of Medical Literature (CBM), Wan Fang Data, CNKI, and VIP databases. The literature screening, data extraction and literature quality evaluation were performed by two researchers by carefully reading the title, abstract and full text, and meta-analysis was performed using Stata 1.5 software after extracting relevant data. Results: Fourteen papers were finally included, with a cumulative total of 3,071 people surveyed, and a total of 1,298 breast cancer patients were detected with depression, with a detection rate of depressive symptoms of 42.26%; meta analysis showed that age less than 40 years old, unmarried, less than undergraduate education, monthly income <5,000 yuan, advanced breast cancer, radical breast cancer surgery, family history, living in rural areas, underlying disease stage and chemotherapy were associated with an increased incidence of depression in breast cancer patients. Conclusion: The detection rate of depressive symptoms in female breast cancer patients is high, and there is a need to strengthen depression-related psychological screening of breast cancer patients and provide them with individualized interventions to reduce the incidence of depression in breast cancer patients and to lower the level of depression already present in the patients.

RESUMO

The incidence and mortality of endometrial carcinoma (EC) are increasing year by year. Although the curative effect of surgery and commonly used drugs is clear, it is accompanied by obvious side effects, and safe and effective means are urgently needed to promote the curative effect and decrease the toxicity of drugs. Traditional Chinese medicine has been passed down for thousands of years in China and has proved to be advantageous in the treatment of various cancers and the auxiliary enhancement and reduction of toxicity. This paper reviewed the role and internal mechanism of Salvia miltiorrhiza in preventing and treating endometrial carcinoma by referring to relevant literature and works, so as to more comprehensively understand and grasp the research status, effective components, curative effect and effective mechanism of S. miltiorrhiza in preventing and treating endometrial carcinoma, and provide ideas and basis for clinical use and basic research.

RESUMO

The spray system mechanism during a gas explosion in an underground square pipeline is complex. In this paper, the underground square of Fuxin City is selected as the research object. FLACS numerical simulation software is used to analyze the spatial and temporal distribution characteristics of a gas explosion in an underground square pipeline with an unopened spray system using combustion and combustion rate models. Different spray pressures were compared and analyzed to determine the optimal spray control pressure, and the spray system mechanism was clarified. The results revealed that the gas explosion overpressure is divided into the overpressure gentle, overpressure rising, and overpressure decay stages, corresponding to a trend of rapid growth and slow decline. The influence of spray pressure on the gas explosion exhibits a promotion-inhibition-promotion trend, corresponding to 0-0.2 MPa, 0.2-0.6 MPa, and 0.6-1.6 Mpa, respectively. The peak overpressure and overpressure propagation rates are the lowest at 0.6 MPa, and the explosion suppression effect is the most pronounced. The spray system mechanism varies with the explosion overpressure stages. Generally, the time to peak value, that is, the peak time, the overall duration of the explosion, and the duration of the explosion stage decrease, whereas the peak explosion overpressure decreases.

RESUMO

AIM: The number of breast cancer patients is increasing, but there are insufficient sources of information for their family caregivers. The purpose of this systematic review was to elaborate the psychologically realistic experiences and corresponding needs of family members of patients with breast cancer in the course of their experience in the disease which may provide them with effective, targeted intervention strategies to improve their quality of life. DESIGN: Protocol for a meta-synthesis. METHODS: We will search the Chinese databases (i.e., China National Knowledge Infrastructure, VIP Database and Wanfang Database) and the English databases (i.e., PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, the Cochrane Library, CINAHL and PsycINFO). Qualitative studies from the above databases, studying the psychological experiences of family members of patients with breast cancer, will be searched comprehensively. The quality of the study will be evaluated by two reviewers independently using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) critical appraisal tools for qualitative study, and any disagreements will be discussed and judged by the third reviewer. Data will be extracted using JBI standardized data extraction tool. Then, the literature will be compared and analysed, and the raw results summarized using the JBI meta-aggregation tool. The reliability and credibility of the overall quality of the included studies will be assessed by using the JBI ConQual approach. RESULTS: N/A. No Patient or Public Contribution. PROSPERO REGISTRATION NUMBER: REDACTED.

RESUMO

Background: Congenital heart disease (CHDs) is the major cause of mortality from birth defects, affecting up to 1% of live births worldwide. However, the relationship between aluminum (Al) and iron (Fe) levels and the risk of CHDs has yielded inconsistent results. Methods: We conducted a pair-matched case-control study that included 97 CHDs and 194 non-CHDs to investigate the association and interaction between Al/Fe exposure and the risk of CHDs in a birth cohort study in Lanzhou, China. Results: Higher concentrations of cord blood Al were associated with a greater risk of total CHDs (aOR = 2.826, 95% CI [1.009-7.266]) and isolated CHDs (aOR = 10.713, 95% CI [1.017-112.851]) compared to the lowest Al level. Both in maternal blood and cord blood, a significant dose-effect was observed between Al level and total CHDs (Ptrend < 0.05), but a similar pattern was not observed for Fe. High Al in addition to high Fe appeared to elicit a stronger association with CHDs than both lowest tertile of Al and Fe level in umbilical cord blood, particularly for multiple CHDs, septal defects and patent ductus arteriosus. Conclusions: Our study suggests that exposure to Al during pregnancy (≥2,408 µg/L) is significantly associated with an increased risk of CHDs in offspring, especially septal defects, and that high levels of Al and Fe are strongly correlated with fetal heart development. Further research is needed to understand the underlying mechanisms.

RESUMO

Background: Multiple primary cancer (MPC) refers to the presence of more than one cancer in an individual. Triple primary malignancies are uncommon. Case: We report the case of a 50-year-old postmenopausal woman in our gynecology department, diagnosed with endometrial cancer, ovarian cancer, and unilateral breast cancer. She carried germline mutations in BRCA2, PALB2, and RECQL4, along with a somatic pathogenic variant in TP53. Endometrial cancer patients harboring germline pathogenic variants in BRCA2 exhibit a heightened risk of ovarian and breast cancer. BRCA2 is known to play a role in the development of ovarian and breast cancer, while PALB2 is identified as a gene associated with breast cancer susceptibility. RECQL4 has been linked to breast cancer, cervical cancer, and other tumors. Conclusion: Genetic testing may be imperative for identifying MPC in endometrial cancer patients. For individuals with BRCA2 and other gene pathogenic variants, routine examination and monitoring of the endometrium, ovaries, breasts, and other sites prone to polygenic cancer are recommended.

RESUMO

Severe trauma could induce sepsis due to the loss of control of the infection, which may eventually lead to death. Accurate and timely diagnosis of sepsis with severe trauma remains challenging both for clinician and laboratory. Combinations of markers, as opposed to single ones, may improve diagnosis. We compared the diagnostic characteristics of routinely used biomarkers of sepsis alone and in combination, trying to define a biomarker panel to predict sepsis in severe patients. This prospective observational study included patients with severe trauma (Injury severity score, ISS = 16 or more) in the emergency intensive care unit (EICU) at a university hospital. Blood samples were collected and plasma levels of procalcitonin (PCT), C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and serum amyloid A (SAA) were measured using commercial enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kits. A total of 100 patients were eligible for analysis. Of these, 52 were diagnosed with sepsis. CRP yielded the highest discriminative value followed by PCT. In multiple logistic regression, SAA, CRP, and PCT were found to be independent predictors of sepsis. Bioscore which was composed of SAA, CRP, and PCT was shown to be far superior to that of each individual biomarker taken individually. Therefore, compared with single markers, the biomarker panel of PCT, CRP, and SAA was more predictive of sepsis in severe polytrauma patients.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the safety and feasibility of single-port laparoscopy during pregnancy in short term and long term. METHODS: A multicenter retrospective study was conducted to investigate the clinical data of 38 pregnant women with adnexal masses who underwent transumbilical single-port laparoscopic surgery from January 2017 to March 10, 2023. RESULTS: The mean operation time was 72.7 ± 29.6 (30-160) min. The mean intraoperative blood loss was 30.5 ± 80.4 mL, the mean postoperative first defecation time was 2.5 ± 0.7 days, and the mean total hospital stay was 6.9 ± 1.4 days. None of the patients used analgesic drugs postoperatively. Two patients developed missed abortions within 1 month of surgery, one underwent induction of labor due to a dead fetus at 24 weeks and 5 days of gestation, and the other patients did not develop adverse events after surgery. Mean birth weight was 3322.3 ± 396.3 g. The fetal heart rate was 139 ± 6.4 bpm before operation and 149 ± 2.7 bpm after operation. The APGAR score at 1 and 10 min was 9.2 ± 0.6 points and 9.9 ± 0.2 points, respectively. The mean follow-up time was 23.9 ± 16.1 (4.7-56) months, 90% (27/30) of the children had moderate developmental quotient, and 10% (3/30) of the children had good developmental quotient, without borderline low developmental quotient or mental retardation. CONCLUSION: It is safe, practical, and worthwhile to promote transumbilical single port laparoscopic surgery for pregnancies with adnexal masses in both short and long term.

RESUMO

AIMS: Fear of cancer recurrence (FCR) is a multifaceted concept influenced by individual characteristics, social support, psychological factors. This study aims to identify distinct FCR profiles among breast cancer patients and explore the associated variables with these patterns. DESIGN: A cross-sectional study was conducted from April 2022 to March 2023. METHODS: A convenience sample of 339 patients completed a questionnaire that assessed general and disease-related data, including the Fear of Progression Questionnaire-Short Form, Social Support Rating Scale, Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire. Statistical analysis involved latent profile analysis (LPA) and multinomial logistic regression. RESULTS: Three latent patterns of FCR were found: the low fear (28.9%), the moderate fear (51.3%), and the high fear (18.0%). The study identified the social support, family monthly income, employment status, utilization of confrontation coping mode and avoidance coping mode, as factors that impacted the FCR. CONCLUSIONS: Social support, family monthly income, employment status, and medical coping modes have been found to impact the FCR among newly diagnosed breast cancer patients. Healthcare professionals should focus on addressing FCR at diagnosis and implement effective interventions, such as promoting social support and encouraging adaptive coping, to alleviate this concern. IMPACT: Urgently addressing the FCR in Chinese breast cancer patients is imperative due to its profound influence on their holistic health. Through advanced LPA, we categorized the FCR progression, highlighting risks. These findings have implications for healthcare strategies, offering new insights to manage the FCR and improve patient well-being. Our study adds a fresh perspective to the factors underlying the FCR in breast cancer patients, contributing to the broader comprehension and management of this complex survivorship issue. PATIENT OR PUBLIC CONTRIBUTION: No patient or public contribution.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: This study adapted the Chinese version of the Couple Skills Training intervention program to couples of young breast cancer patients in China and investigated its effects on fear of cancer recurrence (FCR), cancer-related communication, and level of hope among the couples. METHODS: Ninety young breast cancer patients and their spouses were recruited and randomly assigned to the intervention group (45 couples) and the control group (45 couples). Couples in the intervention group received skills training and were assessed at baseline, post-intervention, and 3 months post-intervention to measure outcomes. Differences in scores between the two groups were analyzed using two-sample t-tests and generalized estimating equations (GEE) controlling for demographic and health-related variables. RESULTS: Couples' skills training intervention effectively reduced FCR and improved cancer-related communication in young breast cancer patients compared to the control group (both p < 0.001). Spouses' expectations significantly increased (p < 0.001). At 3 months post-intervention, couples in the intervention group showed significant improvements in FCR, cancer-related communication, and hope (all p < 0.001). CONCLUSION: Couples' skills training interventions are beneficial for helping young breast cancer patients cope with FCR. Couples-based interventions play a crucial role in addressing FCR in these patients and their spouses. Future research should consider larger samples and longer follow-up periods to enhance intervention effectiveness. CLINICAL TRIAL CENTER REGISTRATION NUMBER: This study has also been registered with the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry (No: ChiCTR2200063327).

RESUMO

Objective To investigate the effects of formononetin (FMN) on cognitive behavior and inflammation in aging rats with chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS). Methods SD rats aged about 70 weeks were divided into healthy control group, CUMS model group, CUMS combined with 10 mg/kg FMN group, CUMS combined with 20 mg/kg FMN group and CUMS combined with 1.8 mg/kg fluoxetine hydrochloride (Flu) group. Except for healthy control group, other groups were stimulated with CUMS and administered drugs for 28 days. Sugar water preference, forced swimming experiment and open field experiment were used to observe the emotional behavior of rats in each group. HE staining was used to observe the pathological injury degree of brain equine area. The contents of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) and 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA) were detected by the kit. The apoptosis was tested by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick-end labeling (TUNEL) in the brain tissue. The levels of tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α), inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and interleukin 6 (IL-6) in peripheral blood were measured by ELISA. Western blot analysis was used to detect Bcl2, Bcl2 associated X protein (BAX), cleaved caspase-9, cleaved caspase-3, Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), myeloid differentiation factor 88 (MyD88), and phosphorylated nuclear factor κB p65 (p-NF-κB p65) in brain tissues. Results Compared with CUMS model group, sugar water consumption, open field activity time, open field travel distance and swimming activity time significantly increased in the CUMS combined with 20 mg/kg FMN group and the CUMS combined with 1.8 mg/kg Flu group. The number of new outarm entry increased significantly, while the number of initial arm entry and other arm entry decreased significantly. The pathological damage of brain equine area was alleviated, and the contents of 5-HT and 5-HIAA were significantly increased. The ratio of BAX/Bcl2 and the expression of cleaved caspase-9 and cleaved caspase-3 protein as well as the number of apoptotic cells were significantly decreased. The contents of TNF-α, iNOS and IL-6 were significantly decreased. The protein levels of TLR4, MyD88 and p-NF-κB p65 were significantly decreased. Conclusion FMN can inhibit the release of inflammatory factors by blocking NF-κB pathway and improve cognitive and behavioral ability of CUMS aged rats.

RESUMO

Ternary Optical Computer (TOC) is more advanced than traditional computer systems in parallel computing, which is characterized by huge amounts of repeated computations. However, the application of the TOC is still limited because of lack of key theories and technologies. In order to make the TOC applicable and advantageous, this paper systematically elaborates the key theories and technologies of parallel computing for the TOC through a programming platform, including reconfigurability and groupable usability of optical processor bits, parallel carry-free optical adder and the TOC's application characteristics, communication file to express user's needs and data organization method of the TOC. Finally, experiments are carried out to show the effectiveness of the present theories and technologies for parallel computing, as well as the feasibility of the implementation method of the programming platform. For a special instance, it is shown that the clock cycle on the TOC is only 0.26% of on a traditional computer, and the computing resource spent on the TOC is 25% of that on a traditional computer. Based on the study of the TOC in this paper, more complex parallel computing can be realized in the future.

RESUMO

Introduction: Pu-erh tea is a geographical indication product of China. The characteristic flavor compounds produced during the fermentation of ripened Pu-erh tea have an important impact on its quality. Methods: Headspace solid-phase microextraction coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS) and odor activity value (OAV) is used for flavor analysis. Results: A total of 135 volatile compounds were annotated, of which the highest content was alcohols (54.26%), followed by esters (16.73%), and methoxybenzenes (12.69%). Alcohols in ripened Pu-erh tea mainly contribute flower and fruit sweet flavors, while methoxybenzenes mainly contribute musty and stale flavors. The ripened Pu-erh tea fermented by Saccharomyces: Rhizopus: Aspergillus niger mixed in the ratio of 1:1:1 presented the remarkable flavor characteristics of flower and fruit sweet flavor, and having better coordination with musty and stale flavor. Discussion: This study demonstrated the content changes of ripened Pu-erh tea's flavor compounds in the fermentation process, and revealed the optimal fermentation time. This will be helpful to further understand the formation mechanism of the characteristic flavor of ripened Pu-erh tea and guide the optimization of the fermentation process of ripened Pu-erh tea.

RESUMO

Anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) encephalitis is an autoimmune-mediated disease characterized by complicated neuropsychiatric symptoms and the detection of cerebrospinal fluid antibodies against the GluN1 subunit of the NMDAR. With the proposed clinical method, more anti-NMDAR encephalitis patients have been discovered since its first report. However, anti-NMDAR encephalitis overlapping with multiple sclerosis (MS) is rare. Herein we report a male patient with anti-NMDAR encephalitis who developed MS in mainland China. Furthermore, we summarized the characteristics of patients who were diagnosed with overlapping MS and anti-NMDAR encephalitis in previous studies. Additionally, we pioneered the use of mycophenolate mofetil in immunosuppressive therapy, providing a novel therapeutic alternative for overlapping anti-NMDAR encephalitis and MS.

RESUMO

Thirty-seven novel chalcone-phenazine hybrid molecules (C1∼C13 and F1∼F24) with 1,2,3-triazole or ethyl group as linkers were designed and synthesized in this study. Some compounds exhibited selective cytotoxicity against U87-MG cancer cell lines in vitro, in which compound C4 were found to have the best antiproliferative activity. SAR study indicated 1,2,3-triazole group may be crucial for enhancing compounds' cytotoxicity. C4 was verified to induce ferroptosis in U87-MG cells by transcription, lipid peroxidation, lipid ROS assays. Furthermore, C4 was up-regulated LC3-II, degradated FTH1, and then increasing iron resulted in the down-regulation of NCOA4. Together, all above evidences highlighted the potential of compound C4 that triggered ferroptosis by activating ferritinophagy against U87-MG cells.
